Your Umrah, explained

A Complete Guide to Performing Umrah

New to Umrah or guiding family who are? Here is the journey from start to finish — the rites you will perform and the blessed sites you can visit in Makkah and Madinah.

The Four Pillars of Umrah

  1. Ihram

    The Sacred State & Intention

Enter a state of spiritual purity before crossing the Miqat boundary. Men wear two unstitched white sheets; women wear modest clothing that leaves the face and hands uncovered. You make your formal intention (Niyyah) and begin reciting the Talbiyah.

  2. Tawaf

    Circling the Kaaba

At Masjid al-Haram you walk seven times anti-clockwise around the Holy Kaaba, beginning at the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad), then pray two Rak‘ahs near the Station of Ibrahim and drink Zamzam water.

  3. Sa‘ee

    Walking Safa to Marwah

You walk seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah within the mosque complex, following in the footsteps of Hajar (AS) as she searched for water for her son Isma‘il (AS).

  4. Halq / Taqsir

    Exiting Ihram

To complete your Umrah and exit Ihram, men shave or trim their hair while women trim a fingertip length — marking the joyful completion of the pilgrimage.

Sacred Sites to Visit (Ziyarat)

The Holy Kaaba at Masjid al-Haram in Makkah

In & Around Makkah

  • Jabal al-NourThe “Mountain of Light”, home to the Cave of Hira where the Prophet ﷺ received the first revelation of the Holy Qur’an. A steep, demanding climb.
  • Jabal ThawrThe cave where the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr (RA) sheltered for three days during the migration (Hijrah) to Madinah — a symbol of trust in Allah.
  • Al-Mu‘alla CemeteryMakkah’s historic cemetery and resting place of Khadijah (RA), the Prophet’s ﷺ beloved first wife, and other members of his family.
  • Masjid Aisha (Al-Taneem)The nearest Miqat station for those staying in Makkah who wish to enter Ihram for an additional Umrah.

  • Masjid al-QiblatainThe “Mosque of the Two Qiblas”, where the command came to turn in prayer towards the Kaaba in Makkah.
  • Mount UhudSite of the Battle of Uhud and the resting place of its martyrs, including the Prophet’s ﷺ uncle, Hamza (RA).

Common Questions

Umrah Packages — FAQs

What's the difference between 3★, 4★ and 5★ Umrah packages?
All tiers include return flights, private transfers and full visa handling. The difference is hotel standard and proximity to the Haram. 3★ packages offer excellent value with comfortable hotels a short walk away. 4★ upgrades put you closer to Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi with shorter walks. 5★ packages feature premium Haram-view or Haram-boundary properties such as Pullman Zamzam and Fairmont Clock Tower.
Can I customise the hotel or duration of these packages?
Yes. All our Umrah packages are fully customisable. You can extend your stay, add side trips (for example to Jeddah or Riyadh), upgrade to a 4★ or 5★ hotel, or change your cabin class. Let our specialists know your preferences in the notes field when you request a quote.
Are meals included in the packages?
It depends on the tier. Our 3★ packages are Room Only (accommodation without meals), which keeps the price low and lets you dine at the wide choice of restaurants around the Haram. Our 4★ and 5★ packages include daily breakfast on a Bed & Breakfast basis. Half-board or full-board can be added to any package on request.
Do UK passport holders need a visa for Umrah?
UK passport holders can perform Umrah, and we handle your Saudi visa application as part of the package. Entry routes are set by the Saudi authorities and can change, so we always apply on your behalf using the route current at the time of your booking — you do not need to navigate the government portals yourself.
Can I book for fewer than 4 people?
Yes. The displayed pricing is per person based on quad sharing (four people sharing a room). If you are travelling as a couple, a family of three, or solo, we will adjust the room configuration (Double, Triple or Single) and provide a revised, competitive price.
How do I book and secure my Umrah package?
Fill in our short enquiry form with your travel dates, contact details and choice of package. One of our Umrah specialists will confirm live flight and hotel rates and contact you within 2 hours with a full quote. Once you are happy, you can secure the booking over the phone.
