The Four Pillars of Umrah

1. 1

   Ihram

   The Sacred State & Intention

   Enter a state of spiritual purity before crossing the Miqat boundary. Men wear two unstitched white sheets; women wear modest clothing that leaves the face and hands uncovered. You make your formal intention (Niyyah) and begin reciting the Talbiyah.

2. 2

   Tawaf

   Circling the Kaaba

   At Masjid al-Haram you walk seven times anti-clockwise around the Holy Kaaba, beginning at the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad), then pray two Rak‘ahs near the Station of Ibrahim and drink Zamzam water.

3. 3

   Sa‘ee

   Walking Safa to Marwah

   You walk seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah within the mosque complex, following in the footsteps of Hajar (AS) as she searched for water for her son Isma‘il (AS).

4. 4

   Halq / Taqsir

   Exiting Ihram

   To complete your Umrah and exit Ihram, men shave or trim their hair while women trim a fingertip length — marking the joyful completion of the pilgrimage.

In & Around Makkah

• Jabal al-NourThe “Mountain of Light”, home to the Cave of Hira where the Prophet ﷺ received the first revelation of the Holy Qur’an. A steep, demanding climb.
• Jabal ThawrThe cave where the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr (RA) sheltered for three days during the migration (Hijrah) to Madinah — a symbol of trust in Allah.
• Al-Mu‘alla CemeteryMakkah’s historic cemetery and resting place of Khadijah (RA), the Prophet’s ﷺ beloved first wife, and other members of his family.
• Masjid Aisha (Al-Taneem)The nearest Miqat station for those staying in Makkah who wish to enter Ihram for an additional Umrah.
• Mina, Muzdalifah & ArafatThe historic plains of the Hajj, including Mount Arafat (Jabal al-Rahmah), where the Prophet ﷺ delivered his Farewell Sermon.

In & Around Madinah

• Masjid an-NabawiThe Prophet’s Mosque — the second holiest site in Islam — housing the Prophet’s ﷺ resting place and the blessed Rawdah.
• Quba MosqueThe first mosque built in Islam. Praying two Rak‘ahs here is narrated to carry the reward of an Umrah.
• Masjid al-QiblatainThe “Mosque of the Two Qiblas”, where the command came to turn in prayer towards the Kaaba in Makkah.
• Mount UhudSite of the Battle of Uhud and the resting place of its martyrs, including the Prophet’s ﷺ uncle, Hamza (RA).
• Jannat al-BaqiMadinah’s principal cemetery, where many of the Prophet’s ﷺ companions and family members are buried.
